New Year’s Eve doesn’t have to mean late nights or expensive plans. Family First Night is Barrhead’s way of welcoming the New Year—with laughter, skating, swimming, crafts, games, and fireworks the whole family can enjoy.

From the moment the figure skaters take the ice to the final fireworks lighting up the sky, this is an evening built around connection, community, and fun for all ages.

WHAT'S HAPPENING

FREE Figure Skating Performance

4:00 – 4:30 PM | Barrhead Agrena
Kick off the evening with a special performance by the Barrhead Figure Skating Club, showcasing local talent and setting the tone for a night of celebration.

FREE Family Public Skate

4:30 – 9:00 PM | Barrhead Agrena
Lace up and hit the ice together. Families are invited to enjoy a free public skate, whether you’re gliding like a pro or hanging onto the boards.

FREE Crafts with Barrhead and District FCSS

4:30 – 8:30 PM | Agrena Lobby
Warm up inside with hands-on crafts hosted by Family & Community Support Services—perfect for younger kids and creative minds.

Tattoos & Photo Booth

4:00 – 9:00 PM | Agrena Lobby
Strike a pose, grab a temporary tattoo, and snap a memory to take home. Because New Year’s photos > blurry midnight selfies.

FREE Hot Dogs & Cupcakes

6:00 – 8:00 PM | Multi-Purpose Room
Dinner is handled. Enjoy free hot dogs and cupcakes, proudly cooked and served by the Barrhead Fire Department.

Family Games & Fun with Pembina West Co-op

6:00 – 8:00 PM | Multi-Purpose Room
Games, laughter, and hands-on activities hosted by Co-op—no screens required.

Toonie Swim

4:00 – 8:00 PM | Barrhead Regional Aquatic Centre
Make a splash before the New Year with a Toonie Swim. Bring your swimsuits and burn off some energy before fireworks.

Fireworks Finale

9:00 PM | Barrhead Sports Grounds
End the night with a bang as fireworks light up the sky—early enough for kids, exciting enough for everyone.
